Details
A photo exhibition by Walter Koditek, presented as an early teaser for the forthcoming book publication scheduled for release in early 2027.
The exhibition features large-format photographs of more than 200 modernist buildings constructed during the Sangkum Reastr Niyum period (1955–1970) in Phnom Penh, documenting the architectural legacy of newly independent Cambodia. Some works highlight architectural masterpieces designed by Vann Molyvann, Cambodia’s most prominent architect, while others present clusters of smaller images showing residential villas, commercial buildings and public architecture.
A large ground-floor mosaic focuses on the everyday architecture of mid-rise corner buildings that are both archetypal and ubiquitous in Phnom Penh’s historic city centre.
Through uniformly framed and carefully composed photographs, the exhibition draws attention to architectural details often overlooked, encouraging viewers to appreciate the diversity of forms, elements, and materials used by modernist architects.
