ABOUT THE EVENT
EuroCham HR Forum 2026: Reimagining HR Practices in the Age of AI
Cambodia is experiencing rapid economic growth and digital transformation, increasing demand for a workforce equipped with both technical and soft skills.
While Cambodian universities produce a large number of graduates each year, many students are not fully prepared for the realities of the workplace. Employers often report that graduates lack critical skills such as problem-solving, communication, teamwork, digital literacy and adaptability, skills that are increasingly essential in a globalised economy.
Adding to the challenge, AI tools such as ChatGPT are increasingly used by students to complete assignments, write reports or polish CVs. While AI can enhance productivity, over-reliance can limit the development of critical thinking, creativity and authentic problem-solving abilities. This trend affects both universities and companies; universities must ensure learning outcomes reflect genuine understanding, while companies struggle to assess true student potential when applications are AI-enhanced.
The adoption of AI in human resources (HR) functions is also reshaping recruitment and talent management. While AI can streamline processes, it also creates new challenges for identifying genuine talent and potential.
This context creates an urgent need for closer collaboration between universities and companies to ensure students are work-ready and possess the skills in demand. Apprenticeships and work-based learning programmes are increasingly recognised as effective pathways to develop student readiness, equip graduates with in-demand skills, and strengthen collaboration between universities and companies.
