Concert at the Chaktomuk Theatre featuring the Cannes Appassionata String Ensemble and musicians of the Royal University of Fine Arts.
On Friday, February 20th, the Chaktomuk Grand Theatre will resonate with the rhythms of an exceptional musical encounter as the French Institute of Cambodia presents a unique concert bringing together the Cannes Appassionata string ensemble and musicians from the Royal University of Fine Arts, celebrating a blend of classical and traditional Khmer music.
The programme features works by Vivaldi, Tchaikovsky and Khachaturian; operetta arias by Offenbach, Lehár and Gounod; a medley of Michel Legrand for saxophone; and even a Scottish bagpipe. Traditional Cambodian instruments, including the sralai, kong thom, roneat and skor thom, will be combined with classical repertoire to create new and original sounds, forming a musical bridge between France and Cambodia in the main hall of the Chaktomuk Theatre.
